Identifying Opportunities in Economic & Regulatory Trends

Economic: Opportunity 1

1.     The prices of oil, gas, and food are being controlled by various financial markets.
a.     The supply and demand for goods and services are not what is controlling the flow of goods anymore. Instead, foreign exchange traders who determine the value to the US dollar are the ones who are setting the price of oil, food, and gas.
b.    This is a chance to get back to controlling the worth of our domestic goods and services and becoming even more self-sufficient.
c.     Everyone has to consume food and anyone who has automobiles or machinery that requires oil and gas would benefit from this opportunity.
d.    The United States has become so reliant on foreign exchange, so this task would be rather difficult.
e.     The cost of living is steadily rising and being able to cut back somewhere would be beneficial.
Regulatory: Opportunity 2

2.     There is an opportunity to make changes to HealthCare.
b.    Personal Information within healthcare records is getting stolen and lost all the time.
c.     Those who would benefit from blockchain technology would include hospital employees, patients, and other affiliates with healthcare.
d.    With any regulatory system, it will take time to be implemented, and also it will cause problems and confusion when first starting out. It will be a hard task at first.
e.     Everyone who works in healthcare understands that dealing with records is a reoccurring issue.
Economic: Opportunity 3

3.     Economist believes that the US recession risk of recession is going up.
b.    More than half of those who were surveyed believed that there is a possible recession this year, 2020.
c.     Investors will be the target here
d.    Investments and stock markets always require time to analyze and determine if big profits will be made.
e.     There is an opportunity here because investors were able to capitalize on recessions in the past, so there is a chance to do it again.
Regulatory: Opportunity 4

4.     Cutting back greenhouse emissions into the environment.
a.     Companies are having going green movements and are now being more aware of what they cause to enter into the environment.
b.    There have already been things being put into place in order to reduce our carbon footprint. An example would be getting rid of plastic straws within the Gainesville area.
c.     Those who are big on making strides for changes in the environment will be the main targets.
d.    I do not believe it will be difficult because as more companies begin to pursue making a difference, others will quickly follow.
e.     There is an opportunity because the recent changes in weather alone is a reason to start seeing that changes have to be made.

  1. I enjoyed reading about these economic trends and regulations because of how you summarized and explained the opportunity precisely. I agree with how the first 2 opportunities would be really hard to implement mostly because of how large scale those two problems are. It would involve approval and cooperation from many different groups of people. I would've liked to see what you think a potential solution would be to these problems!

  2. Hello Xavier,
I enjoyed that you provided two economic and regulatory trend opportunities, which were based on large scale problems or flaws. Your listing of answers to each type of question makes your points concise and reading your blog easier. I noticed that you provided websites for two of opportunities as for where you got your opportunity idea from. Although, I wonder where you got the idea for the other two. Was it from your common knowledge from before the assignment? If so, I condemn you on your vast knowledge on nationwide/worldwide events. Having a vast common knowledge bank within your brain can be a helpful tool for entrepreneurs
