Reading Reflection No. 2

How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Win Big by Scott Adams

1) What was the general theme or argument of the book?

The general theme is basically keeping working hard consistently even if setbacks do come up. We are programmed as people to want more in life always and we have to use what we have in order to achieve more.

2) How did the book, in your opinion, connect with and enhance what you are learning in ENT 3003?

It gave me some good insight that it is okay if we do not always get what we want. On the other hand, you will still be successful if you are being consistent and working hard.

3) If you had to design an exercise for this class, based on the book you read, what would that exercise involve?

The exercise I would design for this class would be sort of a reflection forum. It will challenge students minds by looking deeper into the failures that they have. With these failures, I want them to analyze how that in life put them in the place they are and what did they learn from it.

4) What was your biggest surprise or 'aha' moment when reading the book? In other words, what did you learn that differed most from your expectations?

The biggest thing that stuck out to me is to stop setting goals. Goals have a buildup and they have flaws associated with them too. You have goals in mind but if they are not met by a certain day then that only brings disappointment and discouragement. Instead, put in a system that will help you get to where you want to be in life and be consistent with it. This way you will continue to work hard, and your accomplishments will be felt much more in the end.
